Fran Domazetović, PhD research assistant

Fran is PhD research assistant in Applied Geography, who focuses on geomorphology and GIS, During his studies, Fran Domazetović applied GIS in the study of climate change (an analysis of the influence of the rise of the Adriatic Sea on the Croatian coast) while in his graduate thesis he is applied GIS and multicriteria analyses for the study of gullies on the Pag Island. During the first year of this project, Fran Domazetović will become a doctoral student at the University of Zadar, and thus, the research proposed under sub goal 2.2. represents a continuation and upgrading of the research which he is currently conducting in his graduate thesis. Thereby, Fran Domazetović is responsible for the application of our a newly developed methodological approach for precision monitoring of the intensity of dredging within selected ravines, through periodical data collection by using terrestrial laser scanners and unmanned aircrafts. Working on this part of the project, he will perfect his knowledge of using modern technology in scientific research (sub goal 2.2.) and the achieved scientific contribution will form the basis of his doctoral dissertation.

Ivan Plaščak, PhD research collaborator

Ivan is Assistant Professor and Head of the Department for Agricultural Technics Faculty of Agriculture at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. In our Team he is responsible for carrying out activities for sub goal 2.3. In his work so far, he has applied GIS in creating thematic GIS maps and plant cultivation manuals. By working on this project, the respective researcher will participate in the process of determining the agricultural test area appropriate for developing a precision agriculture model by conducting a multiple criteria analysis and field research. As a member of the research group, his expertise lies particularly in the integration of geospatial technologies and analyses with his experience and knowledge related to previous research in the field of applied agronomy.

His primary research focuses on modelling very-high-resolution DSMs, DTMs and LCMs from RGB and multispectral imagery as well as from aero laser and TLS data for various spatial analyses such as GEOBIA. His PhD thesis is focused on hydrological and hydraulic modelling of urban pluvial floods at the micro-level of the research in Zadar. For that research, he uses advanced radar sensors to measure flow velocity and water level, meteorological station, aero laser system etc. He is also an expert in bathymetry, 3D scanners and VR technology.

Rina Milošević, Msc PhD student

Rina is a MSc in Geography. Currently, she is an employee of the Department of Ecology, Agriculture & Aquaculture and works as a collaborator for the GAL. Her research interest is risk modeling in different environments and analysis of public perception of risk. She is proficient in geospatial technologies (GIS, GNSS and remote sensing). Her PhD thesis is Modeling of the urban pluvial floods risk – case study of Zadar. Her main contribution is the development of a new methodological approach for modeling the risk of pluvial floods and public perception analysis.

Neda Kulenović, PhD

Neda is a research assistant employed on the GAL project and is working on activities regarding the application of geospatial technologies in archaeology. Neda Kulenović was awarded B.A. and M.A. degrees in Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology at the University of Zadar. She is a Ph.D. student at the University of Zadar and University of Ljubljana. Neda is an experienced researcher in archaeology, her research being focused on karst areas and archaeology of karst, landscape archaeology and field survey methodology. The interpretation of aerial and satellite imagery in the context of human-nature interactions in karst areas is an important part of Neda’s research interests. Her research on the GAL project covers activities under sub-goal 2.1. ‘’The application of geo-spatial analyses in archaeology and agronomy’’. The research Neda will conduct on the project is primarily focused on historic landscape characterization. The methodology for historic landscape characterization will be developed for karst areas specifically and tested at the island of Pag. Methods commonly deployed in landscape archaeology will be complemented with multiscale modelling of anthropogenic features in karst landscapes.
