DISASTER RISK REDUCATION
Classes from DRR course are carried out at the second year of Graduate university single-major geography study, at the module of Geographic modelling of space and Coastal mamagement. Content of the course includes gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of disaster risk reduction and it is higly connected to applied geomorphology and GIS.
Environmental, spatial, social and environmental studies are being studied economic dimensions of vulnerability of space and society as a whole, andcomplexity and importance of timely and accurate assessment of vulnerability and resistance to a particular area with a view to reducing risk and management disasters. Students should gain knowledge through lectures and exercises skills of noticing processes and conditions that affect the vulnerability of environment and society as a whole and how to recognize the measures and activities that give answers how to make analyzes and assessments of threats. There is a great emphasis on understanding the conceptual and professional basis of spatial analysis and geographic information systems (GIS) for the purpose of reducing the risk of disaster.
